Will I be Accepted?

question mark 285x300 Will I be Accepted? When you first look at colleges, the choices can seem overwhelming! But when you think about the different factors—size, setting, academics, and many others—you can narrow your list quite a bit. If your list has more than ten colleges, you may want to narrow it more before you start applying.

How Many Colleges Should Be on My Final List?

There’s no magic number. If you plan to go to a community college or a state university, you may have only one or two colleges on your list. If you are certain you ill be accepted, having so few on your list is fine. But if you have not made a final decision, think about your chances of being accepted at each college. Your final list should have a range of colleges on it, including at least one college where you know you’ll be accepted.

Will I be accepted?

  • No sweat. Have on your list one or more colleges where you know you will be accepted. Open admissions colleges may not have application deadlines, but you still need to apply to them early for special programs and financial support. Include selective colleges on your “no-sweat” list if you are certain you meet or exceed their admission requirements.
  • The right match. Include colleges that are your ideal choices and for which you are well qualified. These include colleges for which you have what is needed to be accepted and succeed, although limited space may be a factor in your acceptance.
  • Reach out. Include one or two colleges that you really like and where you meet or exceed many, if not all, the criteria for admission. If you do not get in,don’t be too disappointed. But be willing to take at least one chance to seize a great opportunity!
